This vintage Céline Paris necklace is one of the finest examples of the chic discretion that characterizes the house's jewelry - the fine and light golden Figaro chain, the small carriage pendant carved in relief barely larger than a fingernail: nothing flashy, all refinement. The calèche – a two-wheeled carriage pulled by a galloping horse – is one of the most recurring and emblematic motifs in the Céline universe. Present from the first decades of the house founded in 1945, it symbolizes movement, elegance and bourgeois Paris of the 19th century - an imagination that fits perfectly with the DNA of Céline Vipiana, whose creations were aimed at the active and well-dressed Parisian woman. It has been found on the house's clothing buttons, belt buckles, jewelry and silk scarves since the 1970s — a stylistic constant that spans decades and artistic directors.
