This brooch is a medal, in the literal sense - its openwork circular format, its golden granulation ornaments, its baroque scrolls and its set pearls evoke the large brooches of 19th century jewelers, royal adornments, house insignia. The intertwined CD monogram is at the center, treated in a baroque ornamental language which combines the curves of the letters with the arabesques of golden metal to form a composition of rare richness and balance.

The 12 set white pearls — one on each cardinal point of the exterior frame, the others punctuating the interior scrolls — are the touch of softness that tempers the opulence of the gold.
