Paloma Picasso has designed for Tiffany & Co. since 1980 — a collaboration that has therefore lasted for more than forty years, which is rare in jewellery. The house recognises in her a particular gift: finding beauty in unexpected places, from New York subway graffiti to a simple olive leaf. Her designs have that free, almost spontaneous line not found in classic jewellery.

The Loving Heart is the perfect illustration. The heart is drawn in a single gesture, as if in pencil: a continuous line that rises, falls, crosses at the bottom and lets its two ends extend freely. Nothing is closed, nothing is symmetrical — it is a drawn heart, not a cut-out heart. This overflowing crossing detail is the model’s signature, and what immediately distinguishes it from every other heart pendant on the market.

This version is the diamond-set variation of the design. A round diamond is placed exactly where the line crosses, on the lower loop — a single point of light, positioned just right, that catches the eye without weighing down the line. It is this detail that takes the jewel from everyday wear to evening. The rest is 925 silver, on a fine, delicate 42 cm chain; the whole piece weighs just 2.8 g. It can be worn alone or layered with other chains. The Paloma Picasso engraving and hallmark appear on the back of the pendant.

Good overall condition, grade B — the diamond is securely in place, the clasp is functional and the engravings are legible. The jewel shows signs of previous use and light wear on the back of the pendant, documented in the photos, but remains in lovely condition. No major flaws to report. Sold with its original pouch and RARR Vintage certificate of authenticity.
