This vintage Christian Dior necklace is a piece of couture jewelry of timeless elegance — the round gold-plated medallion, with its deep black enamel background and cursive CD monogram in gold relief, evokes the great medals and seal stamps of the French jewelry tradition, reinterpreted in the formal vocabulary of the house of Dior.

The use of black enamel in vintage Dior jewelry is one of the house's most recognizable and sought-after signatures — Dior pieces from the 1970s and 1980s in black enamel are among the most sought after among collectors today, and their value continues to rise on the secondary market. The contrast between the matte black background and the shiny gold metal creates a graphic effect of sophisticated sobriety, perfectly in the DNA of Christian Dior who loved to combine architectural rigor and ornamental femininity.

The twisted rope mesh chain – a goldsmith's technique which consists of twisting metal wires to create a chain with a braided appearance – is one of the most characteristic links of Dior jewelry from this period, produced in the Henkel & Grosse workshops in Pforzheim. It gives the necklace a supple movement and an elegant lightness which contrasts with the volume of the medallion. The extension chain allows you to adjust the length between 38 and 44 cm to adapt to all necklines.

In very good general condition for a vintage piece, the gold plating is uniform and the black enamel is intact - this is often the first point of fragility on old jewelry, and its good conservation here is a guarantee of quality.
