This Louis Vuitton card holder in Tassil yellow Epi leather is a small piece of leather goods that hides its game well - at first glance, a bright yellow square with the LV embossed in relief. Upon opening: a deep purple leather interior that emerges like a secret of color. Two complementary ones in your pocket.

Epi leather is one of Louis Vuitton's most durable and distinctive signature materials. Introduced in 1985 by artistic director Pierre Paulin, it is characterized by its parallel horizontal grooves engraved in the leather – inspired by ripe ears of wheat, hence its name – which give it both its recognizable texture and its remarkable resistance. Unlike Vachetta or smooth leather, Epi leather does not patina, does not stain easily or scratch. It is one of the most robust leathers ever produced by the house, designed to last decades without bending.

The Tassil yellow color — a sunny, warm, almost ocher yellow — is one of the most characteristic and sought-after colors in the Épi vintage line. What makes this piece particularly remarkable is the deliberate choice of purple interior: Louis Vuitton systematically combined Tassil yellow with a purple interior to create a bold chromatic contrast, directly inspired by complementary color theories. Each opening of the card holder reveals this contrast — a surprise of color that never tires. We find this same yellow/purple marriage across the entire Épi Tassil line of the time, from bags to small accessories.

In good general condition, the Epi leather is clean and the color is deep and uniform. The corners show slight signs of wear consistent with the age of the piece, without impact on use.
