Description & history

This Louis Vuitton card holder in Epi Kenyan Fawn leather is the purest version of understated luxury — 11 cm long, 0.5 cm thick, LV embossed on the front as the only embellishment, the warm brown of Kenyan Fawn for any color. In a jacket or jeans pocket, it can be forgotten until you need it.

Epi leather was introduced by Louis Vuitton in 1985 — its horizontal grooved texture, inspired by ears of wheat, is obtained by specific embossing which strengthens the leather while giving it its immediately recognizable visual signature. It is one of the most durable leathers ever produced by the house: it does not patina, does not scratch easily, is water resistant and retains its color for decades. In the 1990s, the Epi line was available in a palette of bright, saturated colors that had become iconic in the vintage market — Tassil Yellow, Toledo Blue, Castilian Red, Borneo Green and this Kenyan Fawn, a warm brown with caramel highlights that evokes the African savannahs from which it takes its name. These colors are no longer produced new: finding them in good condition on the second-hand market is increasingly difficult.

This ultra-flat card holder (0.5 cm thick) offers 3 card slots — 2 inside and 1 on the back — in an 11 × 7 cm format that slides into any pocket, including a jeans pocket or a jacket chest pocket. It is designed for mixed use: both for a man who wants to reduce his wallet to the strict minimum and for a woman who wants a flat card holder to slip into a mini-bag. The LV embossed at the bottom right of the front is the only visible signature — just what is needed.

In good general condition, the Epi leather is clean and the corners are preserved. A slight friction inside the pockets is visible, consistent with previous use and without impact on functionality.
