The bit — snaffle bit — is one of Gucci's very first emblems. Guccio Gucci worked at The Savoy in London before founding his leather goods house in Florence in 1921, where he developed a taste for the English equestrian world: girths, buckles, and bits. The Horsebit motif has adorned the house's loafers since 1953 and has never left its collections since.

This Snaffle Bit model makes the bit the starting point of its entire design. The gold-tone bit, mounted on the front, serves as a functional clasp: it is used to open the flap. Around it, the leather is perforated and studded in brogue patterns — decorative perforations inspired by traditional English footwear — outlining frames and lines across the entire bag. On the side, a leather tassel is finished with a section of varnished bamboo and a braided leather Chinese knot: two further historic house signatures brought together on a single accessory.

The Snaffle Bit line is no longer in production, making it a true archive piece today, sought after for this concentration of house codes rarely found on a single bag. Beyond being a collector's item, it remains highly practical: 31 cm wide, 10 cm deep, and lined in beige cotton canvas with two patch pockets and a zipped pocket. It easily accommodates a smartphone, continental wallet, glasses case, passport, keys, lipstick, and AirPods. The adjustable shoulder strap up to 90 cm makes it ideal primarily for shoulder wear.

Good overall condition, Grade B — the bag shows light signs of previous use consistent with its age. The smooth off-white leather is clean, and the corners and base are in good condition. A light mark is present on the front, discreet but visible in the photos. The gold-tone hardware is in good condition with minor surface scratches from use, the flap closes securely, and the interior shows only light signs of use on the underside of the flap. No major flaws to report. The bag will be delivered in careful RARR Vintage packaging, complete with a dust bag and RARR Vintage certificate of authenticity.
