Combining practicality and aesthetics is the challenge a sofa bed must meet to be modern. This model succeeds, drawing heavily on the look of Japanese futons. The principle is the same: a tufted mattress on a wooden frame, also reminiscent of the pallet-and-cushion style. In any case, it will fulfil its role as a host for a guest! The Roots sofa bed consists of a sturdy pine slatted frame and a soft, comfortable tufted cotton canvas mattress. It provides an occasional bed for one person, measuring 90 x 200 cm. Thanks to its design, it has multiple positions: the slatted frame is fitted with a leg which, when fully folded, keeps it in armchair position in the living room, with welcoming dimensions and a comfortable backrest. Half unfolded, it becomes a daybed with the back raised for relaxing or reading, and finally it unfolds completely into a bed position for an occasional night's sleep. The mattress covers are all made of 80% cotton and 20% polyester, except for the linen version, whose mattress is made of 25% linen and 75% cotton. The wood is FSC-certified, meaning it comes from managed European forests.
