The Coffer is one of the bags that defined Miu Miu's identity in the late 2000s. While Prada, the parent house, focused on clean lines and technical materials, Miu Miu took the opposite path: exceptionally supple lambskin and ruched quilting — the famous "Miu Miu matelassé" — which is neither traditional quilting nor simple padding, but hand-gathered craftsmanship that gives the piece its instantly recognisable sculpted volume. The Coffer adds two striking signatures: a hand-crafted braided leather handle and a logo-engraved gold-tone brass padlock, set on the flap like a piece of jewellery rather than a simple clasp. These two details, paired with the matelassé leather, make the bag instantly recognisable from afar without the need for visible logos.

In black, it is the line's most timeless iteration — the one that transcends seasons and pairs just as easily with tailoring as with jeans and a white t-shirt. The 35 × 31 × 6 cm format makes it a true everyday bag, supple and spacious: continental wallet, glasses case, passport, phone, makeup bag — everything fits without distorting the quilted silhouette.
